Classrooms for Change
In July, Shikaya launched our Classrooms for Change project.
Classrooms for Change is a place where inspired social justice teachers plant ideas of human rights, democratic values and active citizenship in the minds of the young people in their classroom, and a place where, together, they act on these ideas.
13 teachers were chosen to be a part of the pilot programme. These teachers received a set of classroom posters as well as various resources and lesson ideas that contribute to inspiring a Classroom for Change. Classrooms for Change combines two of Shikaya's main programmes - Facing the Past and Up2Us to create a holistic experience for teachers and students that looks at shaping our identity as active citizens while using the lessons of our past to do so.
