Shikaya manages and operates the Whole School Foundation Education Programme supported by Standard Bank.
The programme works with 15 primary schools in the Western and Eastern Cape specifically focussing on developing a strong grounding in Literacy and Numeracy the Foundation Phase (Grade R-3) and supporting the school management in effective leadership.
- Grade R teachers are given skills training and in-class support. All the classrooms have been given teaching and learning resources.
- Grade 1-3 teachers in all the schools have an expert Numeracy Coach working with them in class on a weekly basis.
- Grade 2 learners who are reading below their age average are given one-on-one reading support with a trained volunteer.
- The school leadership at all the schools have been supported in leadership and collaboration development.
